Biographies

Simon Kingsford: Lead Vocals + Rhythm Guitar

Simon has been playing music most of his life (from church choir, brass band and musical comedy in the 70’s to rock’n’roll and punk bands in the early 80’s to classic hits at pubs, clubs and weddings in the 90’s and beyond). In the early 2000’s he joined the ‘Rock of Ages’ band and in 2007 despite a full-time job and a young family, was performing up to three shows a week.

Then in 2011 following the retirement of the brilliant Ed Demetriou, Bakehouse Tuesday were advertising for a vocalist to enjoy a casual jam and the odd professional date. The pace sounded perfect. A few years and many gigs later and it still feels… perfect 🙂

Angelo Ciavarella: Lead Guitar

Angelo (‘Ange’) started playing guitar at the age of eleven and by 14 his band began performing at Italian social clubs. Influenced by guitar legends such as Hank Marvin, Carlos Santana and Tony Mottola, he shared a passion for music and guitar playing with friends that he remains close to today.

At the age of 40 with his family by his side, he and some friends formed a band called the Long Gone Daddys. The band played for eight years with Ange as lead guitarist until family commitments forced him to retire. The Long Gone Daddys still perform today with the son of a friend, his proud replacement.

Following a change in life and a four year break, he decided to blow the cobwebs off his music gear and join Bakehouse Tuesday. He’s now back to what he loves doing most… “playing in a rock band… Yeah Baby!”.

Aldo Mazzoni: Bass Guitar

Although Aldo didn’t start playing guitar until he was 18, he’s been hooked ever since.

He likes to play a thumping, rocky bass style that taps into the beat and this shows in his playing style and in the way he jumps, dances and moves while he’s playing.
Although he’s no Travolta, he sure does have a ball on stage.
Aldo is an IT professional when he’s filling in the hours between the times he loves most – Jamming and gigs.

Shane Board: Drums & Vocals & Band Comedian!

Shane started playing drums at t he age of 11 and has been at it ever since.
His band career started at the age of 13 with a group of young boys called “Rainbow” a 5-piece Ballarat outfit of 13/14 year old boys, influenced mainly by their fathers and their friends and their music style based heavily on The Shadows and bands and artists from the sixties and seventies.

Over the years, Shane has played in many bands, both original and covers, in Ballarat and Melbourne, having done gigs all over Victoria and NSW in many social and commercial venues. Since moving from Ballarat to the big sticks in 1984, business commitments have thrown a few curve balls, having been self-employed for most of that time, causing the odd hiatus in pursuing his love of music… But I’m back baby! And loving it!

Shane’s outgoing personality and his cheeky and chatty nature, added to his vocal ability to compliment Simon, brings another welcome element to “The Faves”
The fact that he’s a funny bugger also helps to keep smiles on people’s faces and the band in good form!
Shane found the boys on a ‘Musos wanted’ ad at the start of 2024 and has loved every minute of it, having fitted in with the lads from the first audition, winning them over with his irreverent wit and the fact that he threatened to kill them all! if they didn’t choose him there and then, has hopefully now found him at his forever music home with “The Faves”.

History

The demise of Ansett Airlines in late 2001 led to the formation of Bakehouse Tuesday. The three original guitarists were all Ansett staff. As they had plenty of free time Paul Gosling (Lead), Aldo Mazzoni (Bass) and Graeme McInnes (Rhythm) started jamming at each others’ homes on a regular basis. Once they were back in the workforce, Aldo advertised for a drummer and a singer.

Godly George (Drummer) and Ed Demetriou (Singer) joined with the very first rehearsal held in December 2002.

Bakehouse Studios in Richmond quickly became the regular venue for rehearsals and Tuesday nights the regular day which resulted in the band’s name “Bakehouse Tuesday”.

At the start it was just for fun, getting together for a jam and a few drinks, but things clicked, the music got better and better and they realised the band had potential.

They spent some cash on better equipment and things started to get more serious. The goal became more about entertaining crowds than just playing music. Soon the band was doing gigs around the pubs and clubs in Melbourne.

In 2004 Godly headed overseas and Greg Norton-Smith joined on drums.

At the end of 2010 Ed retired from singing and Simon Kingsford joined as singer in early 2011. In 2013 Simon took some time out and Ed returned bigger and better than ever. Then in late 2014 Ed headed overseas and Simon returned to the band. In early 2015 Paul decided to move on, which lead to Angelo Ciavarella joining on lead guitar.

Following the recent departure of Graeme and Greg, Aldo was the only foundation member remaining. With a vastly different lineup to the original, the decision was made to change the name of the band to reflect a fresh start and new direction. Bakehouse Tuesday became The Faves.

The lineup now consists of Simon Kingsford on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Angelo Ciavarella on lead guitar, Aldo Mazzoni on bass and Shane Board on drums.
